Dr. Samantha Valiando is a New York native who grew up in Wallkill, NY. She graduated from the State University of New York College at Oneonta with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and completed her Doctorate at the New England College of Optometry in 2022. As a student, Dr. Valiando received the New England College of Optometry Clinical Award for outstanding clinical performance, as well as the Eschenbach Award for Excellence in Low Vision.
Her clinical experience includes the Providence VA Medical Center, East Boston Community Health Center, Long Beach VA Medical Center, and Yukon Kuskokwim Health Cooperation in Bethel, Alaska! During these rotations, she gained experience in ocular disease, primary care optometry, contact lenses, and low vision.
Dr. Valiando then went on to complete a residency in ocular disease, low vision, and traumatic brain injury rehabilitation at the West Haven VA Medical Center in Connecticut. During that time, she managed advanced ocular disease and complex ocular conditions in a primary care setting while also providing tertiary low vision rehabilitation for individuals with significant vision loss.
She is passionate about providing excellent primary eye care to patients of all ages. Dr. Valiando has vast knowledge of the treatment and management of a variety of ocular conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye. Outside the office, she enjoys working out, hiking, traveling, and baking.
